Painting: Christmas Tree, Nikos Hadjikyriakos Ghikas ~Greek Painter (1906-1994)

Little Tree

BY E. E. CUMMINGS
little tree
little silent Christmas tree
you are so little
you are more like a flower

who found you in the green forest
and were you very sorry to come away?
see i will comfort you
because you smell so sweetly

i will kiss your cool bark
and hug you safe and tight
just as your mother would,
only don't be afraid

look the spangles
that sleep all the year in a dark box
dreaming of being taken out and allowed to shine,
the balls the chains red and gold the fluffy threads,

put up your little arms
and i'll give them all to you to hold
every finger shall have its ring
and there won't be a single place dark or unhappy

then when you're quite dressed
you'll stand in the window for everyone to see
and how they'll stare!
oh but you'll be very proud

and my little sister and i will take hands
and looking up at our beautiful tree
we'll dance and sing
"Noel Noel"

I really don't know. I too hope Aziz is a strong man to endure these very hard times. May God gives him enough courage to bear the irreparable loss.🖤

@Joanne
only being together can alleviate her place. I think the same, she is fine and happy she was in heaven with her kindness tolerance love and wisdom and she will continue in a much more bright world.
She would love Christmas, I learned many things about this tradition from her beautiful post. The Christmas Carol and many many other stories.

I was thinking about their cat as well. Goolie I remember her name as Goolie, Dear Alana shared lots of funny stories about her as well.

Merry Christmas dear ATB friends!

I would like to share with you, on remembrance of our precious friend Alana, one of my favorite poems:

The Definitive Journey by Juan Ramón Jiménez

.. and I will be gone. And the birds will still be singing,
and here will stay my field, with its tree so green
and its white well.

Every evening, the sky will be blue and peaceful,
and the bells will play, like they play this evening,
together in the church tower.

Those, the ones who loved me, will die,
and the village will become new with each year,
and in that corner of my flowered and whitewashed field
my spirit will wander longingly …

And I will be gone, and I’ll be alone, with no home,
without any tree so green, without any white well …
without a blue and peaceful sky …
And the birds will still be singing.

Thank you Dear. loved it. It is really meaningful.

Today I noticed a very strange feeling inside me. I hope I can explain it.

My Grandma passed away when I was 9 years old. We had a great connection, I loved her so much, she tried to support me against my mother and when she had gone I missed her so so much. For several years after her death, when I encountered a hardship or I was sad, I brought her photo, spoke to her, described the situation and cried. Speaking to her alleviated my sorrow. I think I spoke to her photo even when I was 16 or more.

May be you've not noticed but they were several times that I came to ATB and write down about my challenges. I shared those problems here and Dear Alana always gave some good advice and tried to make me calm. She helped me alot with her words, may be she didn't know how much she impressed me, how her words were useful for me and how much I was influenced by her wisdom.

This evening I was sad again, I had a problem at work place, unconsciously Alana came to my mind. I wanted to tell her, remembered how many times she listened to me, and by few sentences tried to reply me and give me hope and strength.

I missed her like how I missed my grandmother many years ago. She was a shining sprite and I know she will be missed alot

Assalam alaikum @nightstar :hug3_entangled:

If this is how you feel consolation, do that. I have come to realize our unconscious work in mysterious ways. Somebody told me that how he was in a good financial position and used to spend on expensive things without giving a second thought. Things changed and he couldn't afford the same lifestyle and he was battling depression hard. One day he went a superstore where he used to go during good days, pick a trolley and filled it with all the things he would have bought if he had money. Then, he came to cash counter left the trolley there and went outside. He said that the experience was therapeutic for him and he felt much better. A few minutes where he pretended all is well gave him hope to continue with his life and he found strength to fight with the challenges of life. I was moved with his story, I felt that we should not feel the fear judgement of others and should come out of this "what will other think about us" and do what we deem necessary for our spiritual growth, as log as we are not hurting anyone.

I feel what you say, the gap that Alana has left cannot be filled. She was the light of ATB and this place shone becasue of her.

And somewhere here ends a very BAD year for the whole planet .... A year that had disease, earthquakes, wars, natural disasters. A year in which one word was heard every day: Coronavirus or covid19 and a bunch of new (or rather unused until then) words in our daily vocabulary: pandemic, contagion, quarantine, lockdown, masks, distances, travel ban, teleworking, distance learning, vaccines, click away etc etc ... A year that deprived us of many things: people we loved, mental and physical health, the ability to be together with friends, to hug them, to travel, to participate in the sanctuaries Mysteries of the Church and generally deprived us of our freedom!
And here in our small world, it was the year which took our beloved Alana deprosmiley ..... It is still SO hard to process that! sadmavi

Fear still prevails everywhere. But 2020 taught us many things, mainly that nothing is a given, neither health, nor life, nor freedom. But it did not deprive us of the feeling of love. Because we may have been deprived of those we loved, technology has helped us to communicate with them and express love even from a distance! I do not know how optimistic I am for the coming year ... The consequences of this kind of pandemic do not go away so easily, mainly those who left do not go back and the financial disaster that began will certainly continue.. But let us hope for the best! We finished alive 2020, we are heroes ... This is how we will go heroically in 2021. Courage, my friends! 😘 😘 tcandle

My dear, dearest friends,
I wish for all a very Happy New Year with good health, joy and happiness, open hearts and much love!💗
My biggest wish for this year though is for it to be full of hugs, big hugs that we've all missed so much with our loved ones but as well as those Alana was lavishly sharing every morning with her posts. 💜🤗
In her memory, may this year be full of kindness!💕
